Geocaching at the library?!

Posted by Malik on January 17, 2009

The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County has started geocaching at select library branches. Geocaching is somewhat like a treasure hunt, but more advanced by using hand-held GPS devices.

Libraries sponsoring this activity will provide the devices if you do not own one. More information can be found here.

I will take my two children on this expedition later on this month. Will either tweet or blog on the experience!

Fresh air…

Posted by Malik on November 26, 2008

I am taking my kids out camping today. Not really going anywhere this turkey holiday. We will not be out all week, just for a day.

I love the great outdoors, minus the snakes. I guess that is why I usually select the fall & winter months to go “roughin’ it”. I had a brief thought shared on twitter contemplating on going tech-less. Then when I decided on going on a geocaching excursion, that killed that idea. So as I dusted off my Garmin Etrex Legend, I uploaded two way points from geocaching.com. I may take a few pics of the found cache and campsite.

Happy Thanksgiving!
