Going retro today…

Great video from the 70′s… Same technology today can be found at the nearest dollar store.

And to imagine... The kid in the video with the glasses, Elliot was me back in the day; but my TRS-CoCo was the original, not CoCo3.

In 1969, they were right on target with future technology; just terminology is a bit off.

Whiteboard Challenge #6

I must apologize for sitting on this challenge for some time. I did have the pleasure of actually doing this with a digital video camera in the classroom. Once the students got past the Hawthorne effect in recording during my lesson, they were actually productive.

On the following day I allow the students to view the video.  Next, I had them to write a reflection on their experience seeing themselves in action learning. Unfortunately due to the restrictions of my district (and the lack of time of my behalf) to have students to sign photo release forms, I cannot post the video.

However, I will try this again for it is good for students to see themselves in a form of visual metacognition (wow, did I coin a new term for this activity)!

NCCTM08 – Day 2 & 3 (10/30-10/31)

I am really enjoying myself at the NCCTM conference this year. As a math educator, I cannot afford to miss this conference each year as compared to the national conference (NCTM). I find that I have more applicable “take aways” as compared to the other conference, not to put it down; However that has been my experience.  It seem like all the sessions that I attended focused on theme (maybe except one I attended) of  Habits & Experiences.

Here a list of the sessions that I attended. Please comment if you wish for me to share the info from any of these sessions.
